Law Reports & Judgments

Available on: Paralegal Junior Legal Practitioner Senior Legal Practitioner

The Law Reports section is the judgment database itself: browse, search, and read South African judgments, updated daily from the courts.

Browsing and searching

Open Law Reports from the sidebar. You can filter by court and year or search across the collection. Each judgment carries an AI-generated summary, practice-area classification, and a reportability score to help you triage what matters.

Two curated entry points are also worth bookmarking:

Reading a judgment

A judgment's detail page gives you the full text, the summary, and its citation graph — which cases it cites and how it has been treated by later courts. From the same page you can save the judgment to My Library or click Research to ask questions about that specific case (Junior and Senior plans — see the My Library & Case Research tutorial).

Authority Check Junior & Senior

Authority Check verifies the authorities cited in a document you upload — confirming the cases exist, checking what they actually held, and flagging authorities that have been overturned or come from minority judgments. Run it over heads of argument or an opinion before it leaves your desk.

Cite Check

Cite Check checks the citations in a document and produces a shareable report.

Practice Directives Junior & Senior

The Practice Directives tool lets you research court practice directives when you need the procedural rules of a particular court or division.
